Restorative Dentistry

Proudly Serving the Children of Murphy, Wylie, Sachse, Plano, Parker, Lucas, Allen, Richardson, and Garland

We understand that despite our best efforts, cavities may still develop on teeth. Contrary to popular belief, baby teeth with cavities require dental treatment (if they will not be falling out soon). The last baby tooth, on average, will exfoliate around 11-12 years of age. As such, depending on what age the cavity develops and when the baby tooth will fall out, untreated dental decay can lead to pain and infection. Furthermore, early loss of baby teeth as a result of untreated cavities can lead to loss of function, shifting of teeth, and blocked-out permanent teeth. At Bloom Pediatric Dentistry, we want our little patients to live a healthy, pain-free life, and will only recommend treatment that is necessary.

Restorative Care

Silver Diamine Fluoride (SDF)

SDF is a liquid solution that, in the majority of cases, stops a cavity from progressing. This is an excellent, minimally-invasive option for treating dental decay in precooperative or anxious children, as it is non-stimulating and merely requires using a paintbrush to paint the liquid on the affected teeth.

We offer tooth-colored fillings that blend seamlessly with your child’s natural teeth. These fillings are made of a resin-based composite material, providing both durability and aesthetic appeal while treating cavities. Upon request, we also offer fillings that are 100% BPA-free with no classic monomers, should that be of importance.

Our crown treatments are designed to restore the form and function of damaged teeth. We provide durable crowns that protect and strengthen teeth compromised by decay or injury. Various options exist, including tooth-colored crowns and stainless steel crowns. We will carefully review the benefits and disadvantages of each option as it pertains to your child’s specific needs.

Pulp therapy involves treating the nerve of a tooth, typically for cases of deep decay or trauma. We employ specialized techniques with bioactive and biocompatible materials to save the affected tooth and alleviate any discomfort, ensuring your child’s oral health remains optimal.

Lesion Sterilization Tissue Repair (LSTR)

LSTR is a minimally invasive procedure that saves a tooth which would otherwise require extraction. It involves sterilizing the infected nerve space and repairing the damaged tissue, effectively preserving your child’s natural tooth.

In cases where tooth extraction is necessary, we perform this procedure with utmost care and comfort. Our team ensures a smooth and painless extraction, prioritizing your child’s well-being throughout the process.

Space Maintenance Therapy

When a baby tooth is lost prematurely, space maintainers help preserve the proper alignment of incoming permanent teeth by preventing the drifting of the teeth adjacent to the space created by the extracted baby tooth. Our space maintenance therapy provides a proactive solution to maintain optimal oral health, prevent future complications, and minimize the need for future orthodontics (braces).

Baby Tooth Nerve Treatments / Root Canals

Our baby tooth nerve treatments, also known as baby root canals, are aimed at preserving and treating the nerves of damaged baby teeth. This procedure saves the tooth and prevents further complications, promoting a healthy smile.

Our crown treatments are designed to restore the form and function of damaged teeth. We provide durable and natural-looking crowns that protect and strengthen teeth compromised by decay or injury. We offer Tooth-colored crowns and stainless steel crown options.

For children requiring dental crowns, we offer tooth-colored options that blend seamlessly with their natural teeth. These crowns provide both functional and aesthetic benefits, ensuring a beautiful and healthy smile.

Stainless Steel

Our stainless steel crowns are ideal for a minimally invasive approach to dental restoration. Without the need for drills or shots, we can restore damaged teeth efficiently and comfortably, preserving your child’s oral health.
